๐ Within the northern Black Sea, Ukraine continues to oppose Russian forces by striking Russian targets offshore Crimea believed to be supporting the Russian maritime blockade of Ukrainian waters. Declassified US defence reporting is alleged to show that Russian forces have been mining the waters south of Odessa as part of the planned blockade of Ukrainian waters.
๐ Meanwhile, unverified Russian reporting suggests that the first civilian vessels have left the Russian occupied ports of Mariupol.
๐ Protests and discontent throughout Libya continue with the force-majeure threatened within the next 72hrs for key ports within the Sirte Oil Basin. The Gulf of Sirte includes the exports terminals of Es Sider, Ras Lanuf, Brega and Zueitina . Output and continuity have been significant issues throughout Libya throughout 2022 as the political crisis continues to worsen. The NOCโs move comes as Libya grapples with protests that are forcing many oil fields and ports to shut down.
๐ Within Nigeria, NIMASA continues to receive more assets as part of the Deep Blue project. Overall maritime security volumes remain significantly below previous years reporting throughout the wider Gulf of Guinea. Despite this, incidents of maritime criminality including the kidnap and ransom of citizens continues throughout the waterways of the southern Niger Delta.
๐ Within Yemen the two month extension to the ceasefire continues amidst reports of Houthi violations. Protests within Aden have led to the temporary closure of the Port of Aden as well as progressing throughout the city. Protesters continue to oppose the significant cost of fuel and energy and lack of basic provisions. Protests and industrial action are likely to continue throughout June into early July which has the potential to impact commercial maritime operations.
