Explosion at west Tripoli checkpoint is alleged ‘‘suicide bomber’’

An explosion that took place yesterday morning, the anniversary of Qaddafi’s coup against the Libyan Kingdom back in 1969, at the western Tripoli entrance checkpoint (Ghiran/Janzur) is a suspected suicide bomber.

One source who lives in the area confirmed the ‘‘very loud explosion’’ on Tuesday morning. Another source also confirmed that an explosion took place.

There were no injuries or deaths reported from the bomb which took place in early morning light traffic .

Libya’s split LANA state news agency eastern branch reported it as a suicide bomber on a motor bike. It published photographs purportedly of the scene and strewn body of the alleged motorcycle suicide bomber.

Noticeably, and suspiciously, at the time of publication, not a single Tripoli based authority has confirmed or denied the report.
