“We have received thousands of people returned to Mozambique,” says UNHCR

Humanitarian agencies have registered 9,600 people “returned” from Tanzania to Mozambique since January. “It is a violation of the principle of non-refoulement, which means not sending back anyone who is fleeing to seek to save their life,” the head of UNHCR in Pemba explains.
